We are very happy to announce the latest addition to UnionWare’s Team Frontier. Fiji Hernandez has joined us in the role of Client Services Developer.
Fiji is originally from the Philippines and was well educated there. His first degree was in Computer Science from a school called Lyceum of Alabang. Fiji then taught for about four years at Informatics College before deciding to take his education a step further. He used the next two years at Asia Pacific College to pursue his master’s degree in Information Technology. During this time, he also worked as a programmer for Data Logic Systems, a company specializing in POS systems. His final year in the Philippines was working as a Marketing Automation Specialist for IBM through business process outsourcing.
A couple of years ago, with sisters already in Canada, Fiji made the hard choice to move to Winnipeg and temporarily leave his wife and two children behind. The first local company lucky enough to benefit from Fiji’s efforts was Shaw, where he worked as a Technical Support Rep for several months. It didn’t take too long for Fiji to notice our search for a developer; the rest is history. Our focus on work/life balance, as well as the opportunity to learn more skills on the job, just are some of the reasons we expect to see a lot more of Fiji in the future.
When he’s not programming the latest client solution in the office, Fiji enjoys reading and keeping up on the latest trends. He also likes to spend quality time with his family, especially playing with his kids.
We wish Fiji the best of success here at UnionWare.
