In 1977, the Association of Professional Flight Attendants (APFA) was certified as the Recognized Bargaining Agent for the American Airlines Flight Attendants. Today, APFA represents 18,000 members. The New Brunswick Union has a long and distinguished history. The establishment of collective bargaining for civil servants of the Province of New Brunswick occurred in 1970. This created the need for an organization with the authority to negotiate and regulate the terms and conditions of employment between provincial government employees and the provincial government.  They have since become the largest union within New Brunswick’s Civil Service.  As an independent trade union, they are responsible for negotiating the terms and conditions of employment through collective bargaining for their members.
